The halfway point of the OHA season has come and gone, meanwhile the playoff push is just getting started. How well is your team positioned to make the postseason?

3 Stars of the Week:

Fedxrov (35G / 64P)

Synergy l97l (31G / 52P)

aPsychotik (30G / 50P)

Power Surge: Curse Reborn

Power Outage: Berlin Mafia

Electrifying Player of the Week: x4thline

(29G / 56P / 10GP / 5.6 PPG)

x4thline had a great week and proved that he is a big part of Cancel’s offense. Although he hasn’t played as much as some of the other leaders, his high PPG justifies his inclusion here and another strong week will only solidify it.

“The Power Grid”

Curse Reborn (Prev: 1)

The Curse are ensuring their place as one of the best OHA teams in history and have all but locked up the #1 seed for the rest of the season. Plan the parade.

Ontario Hitmen (Prev: 2)

The Hitmen are REALLY good, unfortunately this season though being REALLY good isn’t good enough. The Hitmen are one of the only teams expected to truly challenge in playoffs and are the only legitimate competition to the Curse, however they are solid in their own right and look like worldbeaters at the midway point of the season. Stay tuned.

Team Cancel (Prev: 3)

Cancel have been consistent all season long, though they haven’t been able to take that coveted #1 spot as of yet. A great season so far has left them in a top 3 position and this is where you’ll likely find them at seasons end.

Evil Empire (Prev: 4)

Empire are a good-not-great team and there is absolutely no disrespect meant there. If this were an average season then it is likely Empire would be a top 2 team, but this isn’t an average season. Empire are sure to make playoffs but after that anything can happen.

Blueberry Faygo (Prev: 6)

After a tough start to the season Faygo have seemingly put the pieces together and found a spark. Now make no mistake, Faygo aren’t expected to make any real noise in the postseason as there are a ton of perceived flaws with this team, but maybe they prefer to fly under the radar anyways?

Puck Ups (Prev: 5)

The Puck Ups definitely had a down week but that doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, they should be safely in a playoff spot by the end of the season. A rather unassuming team on paper, the Puck Ups are a solid if uninspiring squad who can do damage when the timing is right, but at the moment they are right where they belong.

Puck Daddies HC (Prev: 6)

The Daddies are really good at grinding out points, taking wins off lower teams, and dragging better teams to OT; They play a high-tempo style that lends itself well to playoff hockey. The main issue here is the consistency or lack thereof and they will need to be way better with puck management to do well in the postseason. The question isn’t if they’ll make playoffs with that play style, but rather how far will they actually go?

Toxic Hockey (Prev: 9)

Although Toxic lack a leader, they do alright with what they have. A true underdog if there ever was one, a playoff spot is nowhere near a lock but is also not far out of reach at this point either. Toxic have been good enough this season but everyone knows that playoff hockey isn’t about being good enough, it’s about being the best. Do toxic have any more surprises left in them this season?

Red Deer Bandits (Prev: 8)

Red Deer looked powerless this week, faltering in critical moments and not getting the job done where needed and as such they were an early contender for ‘Power Outage’. The Bandits will need to be a lot better if they hope to make playoffs and will need to be better still to do any damage if they get there.

Bleacher Bums (Prev: 12)

The Bums had one of their best weeks to date yet as they looked better all around and that decent week saw their stock rise to the 10th seed in the power rankings. Although it certainly too early to predict a meaningful jump in the actual standings, it isn’t out of the question that this team could conceivably make playoffs, however they will have to continue this run of form to do so.

Forfeit Kings (Prev: 10)

The Kings revamped their roster and looked to be headed in the right direction...that is until they hit the ice. There is no sugar coating it, the Kings are a total flop this season and it is only going to get worse. Perhaps this team could sneak into playoffs, after all they aren’t really all that far behind, but they will need to play much better to even consider making a run at the post season. Oh and their GM / Goalie has -1 Shutouts in the standings currently...it’s been that type of season. #GetDankedBud4Vezina

Berlin Mafia (Prev: 12)

YIKES.
